Local Hazard Mitigation Plan

The City of Peabody is currently working on updating our Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP).

The LHMP is a critical document in preparing the City for natural disasters. An updated Hazard Mitigation plan assists the City in reducing disaster damage and preventing the loss of life and property. The LHMP prioritizes a community supported mitigation strategy that represents the current needs and values of the community.

An updated LHMP builds and supports climate resilience, develops risk-informed decision making, and is the foundation for making critical investments in hazard mitigation.

Reducing damage to existing and future development
Maintaining community continuity and strengthening the social connections that are essential for recovery
Preventing damage to Peabody’s unique economic, cultural and environmental assets
Minimize downtime, accelerating recovery and reducing the costs of disaster response
